Weston Prince Appointed As Bay County Treasurer
The Bay County Treasurer Appointment Panel appointed Weston Prince of Bay
City, Michigan to the position of Bay County Treasurer on Wednesday, June 15,
2022. Swearing in will take place on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm in the
Board of Commissioners Chambers. The Committee, comprised of Probate Judge
Jan Miner, County Clerk Kathleen Zanotti and Prosecuting Attorney Nancy
Borushko, is authorized by statute to fill the vacancy resulting from the
appointment of former Bay County Treasurer Shawna Walraven as the Bay County
Finance Officer. The appointment is for the remainder of the current term ending
December 31, 2024. Mr. Prince must run for election on the County Wide ballot to
retain his seat for any subsequent term.
The Panel received eight applications and interviewed two candidates. The
interviews were completed on Monday, June 13, 2022. Each candidate possessed
strong skills and the committee was pleased with their qualifications and
commitment to serve their community.
It is the Panel’s desire to see the remaining candidates continue to remain active in
the community and encourage them to continue to seek public service.
Mr. Prince earned both his Masters in Public Administration and Bachelors in
International Business Management from Saginaw Valley State University. He has
served as Chief Deputy Treasurer for Bay County since 2021 and is a member of
the Michigan Association of County Treasurers, Bay County Treasurers Association and the Michigan United County Officers Association. Weston resides
in Bay City with his wife Carla.
